In order to expand its offer of innovative natural active ingredients derived from microalgae, Microphyt is strengthening its sales & marketing teams and also its R&D and Production platform.

With 9 employees in 2015, Microphyt now has 17 employees who support the company’s development. The new industrial partnerships, the promising developments on SMILE ingredients and the development of the platform on CSR & Quality plans in particular, have allowed the recent arrival of new employees:

In sales & marketing:

Sophie Lagon (MBA – EDHEC Lille and Post Master Innovation) joined Microphyt in June 2018 as Business Development Director. With her solid experience in various well known companies in the field of objectived natural ingredients and active ingredients, she has worked in B to B at the interface between Marketing and R&D in the nutraceutical and cosmetic markets: marine extracts, hydrocolloids, plants, phospholipids, omega 3 and 6, etc. At Microphyt, Sophie is in charge of implementing and improving the sales and marketing strategy of the ingredients in the existing and developing ranges, and participating in the establishment of the company’s strategic partnerships.

A few weeks earlier, Antoine Delbrut (Doctor in Biotechnology and Microbiology), who had realized his Master 2 internship in Plant Biology and Biotechnology and his thesis Cifre in collaboration with the UMR IATE of Montpellier SupAgro within Microphyt, was recruited as Product Manager. He is now responsible for the marketing of Nutraphyt products and for the transfer of extraction, formulation and purification technologies from the laboratory scale to the industrial scale.

In the R&D and Production platform:

In early 2018, Audrey Egea (DUT technician specialized in aquaculture) joined the R&D team. She is a microalgal ecophysiology technician on experimental trials at pilot scale and is responsible for quantifying molecules of interest and maintaining strains in the internal strain library at one litre scale.

In 2017, Microphyt also welcomed Marie Vieille who completed a Bachelor 1 and 2 in biology and ecology, a Bachelor 3 in biochemistry, a Master 1 specialized in nutrition and agrovalorization and finally a Master 2 in food safety. She is now Quality Project Manager. It aims to obtain ISO 22000 certification for Microphyt and must conform the company’s quality system to the requirements of the norm.

Finally, Guillaume Bréda (Bachelor degree in aquaculture productions and biotechnologies) joined the production team as Production Technician. After an experience in algoculture and the production of microalgae in open and closed systems, he carries out for the company operations related to the monitoring and culture of microalgae in industrial photobioreactors (CAMARGUE® technology details: here) and the treatment of biomasses produced.
