EBD Group. (11/21/11). "Press Release: Global Biotechnology Industry to Gather in Amsterdam for BIO-Europe Spring 2012". Carlsbad, CA & Amsterdam.

The global biotechnology industry's top dealmakers and leaders will gather for one of the "must attend" partnering events on the calendar, the sixth annual BIO-Europe Spring® partnering conference in Amsterdam, March 19-21, 2012 at the Amsterdam RAI Convention Center. This year's edition is enhanced by being held in The Netherlands, a world-class research community ready to collaborate and also one of the world's most accessible and best business locations.

"With everything concentrated within a 120-mile radius, The Netherlands is a life sciences and health innovation cluster successfully stimulating public-private collaborations and open to partners worldwide," said Johanna van Antwerpen, Director of Amsterdam Innovation Motor, regional host on behalf of the Amsterdam BioMed Cluster. "No less than 10 of 15 European biotech partnerships and equity deals closed in 2008-2011 (Q1) were with Dutch companies, with a total value exceeding EUR 4 billion."

The Netherlands has 900 companies that are active in health-related life sciences, including Agendia, Crucell, DSM, Galapagos, MSD (Organon), Philips, Purac, SynCo Bio Partners, and Unilever. Co-hosts Amsterdam Innovation Motor and national cluster partner Life Sciences Health are extremely pleased to bring BioEurope Spring 2012 to the region, as life sciences and health sector ranks high on the Netherlands' strategic economic and social agenda.

"The 2012 edition of the event will benefit from the dynamic life science community in the Amsterdam region." said Carola Schropp, President of EBD Group, producers of the conference. "And there is no better way to kick off the year's partnering initiatives than by participating in BIO-Europe Spring. Every year the event brings together the industry's dealmakers for three days of intensive partnering."

The 2011 edition of BIO-Europe Spring in Milan, Italy attracted 1,800 attendees who posted 2,163 licensing opportunities and scheduled 9,202 one-to-one meetings, which are all increases from BIO-Europe Spring 2010 numbers. Leading pharmaceutical companies are supporting and attending the event, including Abbott, Almirall, Amgen, AstraZeneca, Baxter, Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Eli Lilly, Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson, Merck Serono, MSD, Novartis Pharma, Nycomed: a Takeda Company, Pfizer, Roche, Sanofi and Shire.

Attendees can get an early start to the partnering by joining partnering360™, the open online network for life science dealmakers that debuted at BIO-Europe® in Duesseldorf, Germany. partnering360 helps delegates have a more productive experience leading up to and through the conference, and enables them to plan for upcoming events and grow their partnering network.

BIO-Europe Spring 2012 also features EBD Group's sophisticated, web-based partnering system, partneringONE®. The event enables delegates to efficiently identify, meet and get partnerships started with companies across the life science value chain, from large biotech and pharma companies to financiers and innovative start-ups.
