Mallinckrodt Baker, a business unit of Covidien (NYSE: COV), a leading global provider of healthcare products, has expanded its global Certified Excipient Distributor (CED) program. Tee Hai in Singapore has been recognized for meeting the requirements of the CED program, becoming Mallinckrodt Baker’s first Certified Excipient Distributor in Asia.

Singapore is a growing area for pharmaceutical development and Tee Hai’s prime location positions Mallinckrodt Baker for continued growth in excipient distribution throughout Singapore and other Asian markets.

“Adding Tee Hai to Mallinckrodt Baker’s CED program allows us to expand our certified distribution network into Asia, a critical market for our business,” said Paul Smaltz, Vice President, Global Marketing, Mallinckrodt Baker. “By working with highly qualified channel partners we can expand the geographies we serve and introduce our excipients into rapidly growing markets, while providing industry-leading service and support to our customers across the globe.”

Launched in August, 2008, Mallinckrodt Baker’s CED program is designed to provide customers with the guarantee that a certified channel partner utilizes a fully documented chain of custody and appropriate change management procedures as well as assurance that the distributor is operating an environmentally controlled facility.

Mallinckrodt Baker CEDs deliver its regulated products through an optimized supply chain that is compliant with the International Pharmaceutical Excipient Council’s (IPEC) guidelines for Good Distribution Practices (GDP). This ensures the timely and reliable sale and delivery of products for multiple pharmaceutical development applications. In order to receive certified status, a potential channel partner must pass a strict quality audit conducted by Mallinckrodt Baker’s regulatory department. The audit process is designed to ensure that each distributor in the program is in compliance with all IPEC GDP guidelines.

Customers who are interested in learning more about the Mallinckrodt Baker CED program or finding a CED in their region should visit http://www.mallbaker.com/certified or call 1-800-943-4747 (U.S.) or 908-329-9910 (outside of the U.S.).
