Lexington, the UK’s leading independent strategy and public affairs consultancy is set to open a new office in Cambridge this month.

It is the first public affairs agency working across multiple sectors to set up in Cambridge and increases Lexington’s office count to three, on top of London and Manchester.

The move follows the increasing growth of the agency’s client base in Cambridge and the Eastern region and reflects the company’s belief in the strategic significance of the area at both national and international levels as a result of the huge proliferation of life science and tech companies in recent years.

The new office is strategically placed in Cambridge’s rapidly developing CB1 Business Quarter, in the same area as tech giants Microsoft and Amazon. To inaugurate the new office, Lexington will be hosting an invite-only event with senior politicians from Westminster and the East of England alongside other high-profile influencers from the region on Thursday 27th February.

The new Lexington Cambridge office will be jointly led by Director and Head of Health, Emily Cook, who runs a 16-strong life sciences practice in London, and Sue Beeby, Director and former Special Adviser to George Osborne while Chancellor of the Exchequer, and Jeremy Hunt when Health Secretary.

From the new Cambridge site, Lexington will support a growing number of companies with communications and stakeholder engagement activities, ensuring the success of the area continues to be projected on the national and international stage.

Working alongside the Lexington team in the role of Senior Advisor will be Dr Steve Feast, former Managing Director of the Eastern Academic Health Science Network and Honorary Professor at the University of East Anglia. Dr Feast has a long history of working with organisations both in the Eastern region and nationally.

Speaking about the new opening, Lexington Director and Head of Health, Emily Cook, said: “The proliferation of life science and tech companies in Cambridge and the region’s growing global reputation in sectors such as agri-tech and telecommunications, make it a hugely exciting time to be expanding our presence here. We are greatly looking forward to working with more businesses in the region and supporting the area to maintain and build on its position as a world-leading tech and innovation hub.”

Sue Beeby, Director at Lexington, said: “With a new Conservative Government promising to focus investment and resource to the North of England, it is an important that businesses in Cambridge and the wider Eastern region to come together to ensure that Cambridge’s unique ecosystem continues to get the support and investment is needs. We want the region and its businesses to continue to thrive post-Brexit and expand their already considerable footprint on the national and international stage.”

Partner at Lexington, Mike Craven, added: “As an agency we have a long history of working with regional leaders, national stakeholders, Parliamentarians and central Government to help businesses from across the world to achieve their aims. Our decision to expand Lexington’s footprint into Cambridge reflects our firm belief that the strategic significance of the region is growing and we have the expertise and experience to support businesses to grasp the opportunities and tackle the challenges that this affords.”
