HealthTech For Care, an endowment fund dedicated to initiatives promoting equitable access to healthcare for European patients and innovation in health, announces several significant changes in its governance as part of the implementation of its new roadmap and development ambitions. During the last board meeting on December 13, 2022, Pierre Courteille was appointed as the Chairman of the HealthTech For Care endowment fund and its Board of Directors, and Sophie Villedieu was appointed as Managing Director of the fund, starting on January 2, 2024.

Christian Pierret, a former Minister of Industry, and Christian Policard, entrepreneur and investor in the HealthTech field, are appointed Vice Presidents. Eric Falcand, CEO of Neopharmed Gentili, is reappointed as a board member and the European Institute of Technology for Health (EIT Health), which has supported HTFC for several years, will be represented on the Board by Marc Julien, Managing Director of EIT Health France and European Senior Director of the Accelerator.

Pierre Courteille, currently Chief Business Officer of Abivax and President of the Chicago Booth & University of Chicago Alumni associations of France, has held several executive positions in the pharmaceutical industry and the HealthTech sector, both in France and internationally. He has leveraged his experience and knowledge of the health and life sciences ecosystem at the service of stakeholders in the sector, serving as Vice President and Treasurer of France Biotech from 2018 to 2022, and subsequently as an active member of the board of Directors and Treasurer of HealthTech For Care since its inception in 2020.

Pierre Courteille states, “I am honored to take on the role of Chairman of HealthTech For Care today. Over the past few years, under the leadership of Maryvonne Hiance, our endowment fund has built close ties with all key players driving progress in the healthcare sector in Europe. Stakeholders from the medical and academic worlds, patient associations, public authorities, the HealthTech ecosystem, and the industry, now constitute a powerful network of initiatives and innovations in health, with a primary focus on the patient. A new European chapter is now unfolding for HTFC. Our primary goal is to further enhance the European and international resonance of our events, particularly the significance of the HealthTech Innovation Days (HTID), which confirm their status as a flagship federating event in Europe every year. We will work to strengthen the visibility of our positions to advocate for our proposals at the highest European level."

Sophie Villedieu joins HTFC as Managing Director. From 2014 to 2019, Sophie Villedieu actively contributed to the development of the professional association France Biotech in the United States and in France, serving as Business Manager. Currently, she holds the position of Associate, focused on the European and US markets at Negma Group, an international investment fund dedicated supporting innovative and growing companies. Starting January 2, she will leverage her operational talents and in-depth knowledge of the HealthTech financial landscape to contribute to the development of HTFC.

Sophie Villedieu added, “I would like to thank to the Board of HTFC for their trust by appointing me as the Managing Director of the fund. Taking into account the challenges and opportunities of the position in an ever-changing healthcare landscape marked by an ever increasing importance allocated to the voice of patients, I look forward to working with our dedicated team to launch new innovative initiatives that positively impact the health of all."

Maryvonne Hiance, Honorary President of HealthTech for Care, concludes, "I am very pleased to announce this important step today in the reorganization of the Governance of the HealthTech For Care. This transition marks the beginning of a new chapter in HTFC's history and provides us with all the assurances that the work accomplished in recent years will continue, be valued, and serve even greater ambitions. Our mission remains the same: to ensure the equitable access to healthcare for European patients so that the tremendous advances in medicine, which we witness every day, truly benefit everyone. I want to thank all the teams that have mobilized alongside me during these years, especially Nathalie Donne, who has coordinated, since the creation of the fund, all the actions organized by HealthTech For Care, including the management of the team."
