> Opening of First Office in Asia

Consilium Strategic Communications, Europe and Asia's only dedicated strategic communications advisor for the healthcare sector, today announces the appointment of Emma Thompson as a Partner and the opening of its first office in Asia. Emma Thompson, a senior healthcare specialist, will spearhead the Company's operations in Asia from Consilium's offices in Singapore's Central Business District.

Emma re-joins the Consilium team as a co-founder and Partner of the Company, having previously co-founded M:Communications' successful international Healthcare Team in 2009 prior to the management buy-out in 2013. She was most recently Account Director at AKA Asia, a Singapore-based agency, where she gained local market knowledge leading the communication strategies for pan-regional clients, and was also previously a healthcare advisor at FD (FTI Consulting) in Europe.

Consilium provides strategic financial and corporate communications advice to international companies across the healthcare industry and has chosen to establish operations in Asia to build on its existing business in the region and to formalise its presence in an increasingly important market. Emma Thompson will lead the development of Consilium's operations in the region, mirroring the focus of the European-based team on devising and implementing corporate and financial communications strategies for public and private healthcare companies internationally.

In addition to being one of the most well-established capital markets in Asia, Singapore represents an important Southeast Asian hub for multinational healthcare companies with more than 30 of the world's leading biomedical sciences companies already leveraging Singapore as a key home base to drive innovation. Seven of the top ten pharmaceutical companies and all of the top ten medical device companies have established their regional headquarters in Singapore. Regionally, due to the economic development of Asian countries, the increase in the emerging middle class and an ageing population there is continued high growth in healthcare expenditure and market demand for therapeutic and non-essential treatments.

Supported by a broad network of global affiliates, the London and Singapore offices will enable Consilium to offer its clients unrivalled and round-the-clock access to the leading industry stakeholders via its unique international and sector-focused approach.

Mary-Jane Elliott, Managing Partner of Consilium Strategic Communications, commented: "We are delighted that Emma has chosen to rejoin the Consilium team. She has significant experience as a strategic healthcare communications advisor and we look forward to her contribution as we continue to grow. The increasing significance of Asia for the healthcare and investment markets is evident and the opening of our first office in the region is another important milestone for Consilium."

Emma Thompson, Partner and Co-Founder of Consilium Strategic Communications, added: "I am excited to be re-joining the incredibly successful healthcare team and to spearhead Consilium's Asian operations. Consilium's professional and proactive approach to strategic communications ensures that our healthcare clients receive unparalleled and trusted advice on their communications goals from our headquarters in Europe and now also from one of the fastest growing regions of the world."

Consilium provides its clients with a full rostrum of specialist communications services, encompassing financial communications, cross-border transactional support, reputation management and crisis communications, through to guidance on corporate and social responsibility strategies.

Consilium's clients range from leaders in the healthcare services sector through to large multinational pharmas and innovative and exciting new technology companies. The Company also advises leading charities and government bodies.
