After evaluating all applications for innovation projects between biotech and IT SMEs submitted during the first PERMIDES round of call, the successful companies have now been determined: Nine German companies are among the 45 successful companies from all over Europe that will receive innovation vouchers of 60,000 Euro each for a total of 22 projects (total financial support: 1.25 million Euro). New innovative concepts will be developed and implemented in five projects involving German companies, which aim at advancing the digitalization of the biopharmaceutical value chain (total financial support awarded to projects involving German companies: 286,000 Euro).
The Cluster for Individualized Immune Intervention, member of the PERMIDES consortium consisting of six clusters and two IT partners, is very pleased about the fact that one of the successful companies is headquartered in its cluster region.
BioKryo GmbH with headquarters in Sulzbach an der Saar is a spin-off from the Fraunhofer Institute for Biomedical Engineering (Fraunhofer IBMT). The company specializes in long-term storage of bio and cryo-preserved materials by using state-of-the-art automation and centralization solutions. As part of the PERMIDES project, for which BioKryo will receive an innovation voucher in the amount of about 60,000 Euro, the company and its IT partner Kairos GmbH would like to develop an IT system designed to connect sample/customer data with process data according to predefined GMP standards.
Dr. Vincent von Walcke-Wulffen, Managing Director of BioKryo, is very pleased about the financial support provided by PERMIDES: “PERMIDES will help us to digitalize biobanking processes previously carried out manually. This will enable us to achieve better process safety and reduce documentation redundancies, which will in turn increase efficiency. This digitalization of our biobank will also allow us to advance the automation of our biobank“.
Applications for the second PERMIDES round of call may be submitted until 10 October 2017 via the PERMIDES platform, which can be found at www.permides.eu.
