The BioIndustry Association (BIA), Bionow, BioPartner UK and One Nucleus are delighted to announce today their formal collaboration to support the UK life science sector. This will see them jointly develop a life science manifesto for the 2015-20 parliament and will see them running a series of workshops and webinars to help UK bioscience companies grow their businesses faster.

The partnership will reduce duplication of efforts and align the partners' world-leading support networks for life science companies across the UK and further afield.

Working together to develop a manifesto for the bioscience sector for the 2015-20 parliament builds on the partners' campaign to refill the Biomedical Catalyst and their efforts to highlight the benefits of the scheme to companies in the sector. This campaign demonstrated that the partners can achieve more for the sector by working together. The manifesto will amplify that success to deliver even greater impact for the UK's emerging life science companies.

Building on the recent, well-received workshops on how to best engage with China, the partners plan to run a series of workshops around the country, and webinars on how to help companies develop their businesses in other key markets.

The BIA and BioPartner, both UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) Accredited Trade Organisations, have worked with UKTI to support the development of new life science trade missions to Australia, Brazil, China, India and the USA, which will include synthetic biology an emerging part of the UK life science sector. These trade missions will be promoted by the four partners alongside UKTI.

Steve Bates, BIA Chief Executive Officer, said:

"The BIA provides the voice of the UK biotech sector in Whitehall, Westminster and Europe. I want to use the next few months to tour the country and listen to the practical needs and concerns of companies in the sector across the whole range of issues that will affect their business in the coming years. Gaining sector input into this collaborative bioscience manifesto for the 2015-20 parliament will ensure that the BIA's effective lobbying voice is focused on the issues that matter to the sector. Working in partnership with Bionow, BioPartner and One Nucleus around the country will ensure all voices in the sector are heard."

Geoff Davison, Bionow Chief Executive Officer, said:

"Bionow is keen to work in partnership wherever possible to further strengthen and promote the UK life science sector. This exciting opportunity for us to work in partnership with BIA, BioPartner and One Nucleus will allow our members to contribute to UK strategic thinking and access events and expertise previously unavailable to them. I particularly welcome the opportunity to support the BIA in accessing companies based in the North of England to further understand their needs and concerns."

Lin Bateson, BioPartner Executive Director, said:

"BioPartner works with the BIA and major UK life science networks to provide support to all UK companies who wish to internationalise. We welcome the BIA's inclusive and progressive approach over the past year, which enables our members to contribute to policy and benefit from its lobbying and strategic influence. As a group we have already achieved success in sharing best practice, promoting UK expertise and initiatives such as the Biomedical Catalyst; this significant announcement will undoubtedly result in better opportunities for our respective member companies and the UK life science sector."

Harriet Fear, One Nucleus Chief Executive, said:

"One Nucleus works hard to deliver practical and tangible benefits for our members. I have always been clear that we do not do lobbying at the national level - preferring to support the BIA in their mission to be the voice of UK biotech. This year has seen us provide platforms for our members to feed in to policy via the BIA and long may this continue under this great agreement launched today."
